The melding of Karim Rashid's brand and Sancal's was done carefully and deliberately. The decanters have a soft square base with angular forms and chamfered bases. The pouring element of the decanters is covered by a wooden closure keeping spirits clean and fresh.

The raw materials – exposed structural steel, pine framing, white oak wall cladding, and acoustic felt surfaces – give the interiors a modest, natural feeling that flows between the three levels. On the interior, the existing wood trusses have been upgraded to hybrid wood and steel scissor trusses that extend beneath a linear skylight. A cantilevered addition juts out from the north side of the building to create a covered entry, and the eaves of the roof have been lifted for continuous clerestory windows that complement the fully glazed gabled ends. I was inspired by Achille Castiglioni and George Nelson’s lamps and applied some of those ideas into a modern zeppelin form. I hope it has a warmth and neutrality that’s a calming presence in any kind of room. We applied the design language we developed for the “Vie” decanters and shaker to create a cohesive family for gifting.

Argo Navis School

Inspired by his daughter’s Lego and the soft, geometric shapes he’s returned to again and again, Chris began stacking 10cm cubes to form three friendly lights. The pipe is produced in hand-blown durable borosilicate glass with ultra-soft silicone covers (anti-static & UV treatment), the pipe comes in a giftable and protected package that includes an extra bowl. The modular design of the pipe allows the 5 components to be cleaned thoroughly and customized with the silicone parts and potential future parts. We also added a steel poker and integrated it into the design so it’s there when needed. Originally built in 1930, the church was converted into a 19,600-square foot (1,820 metre) flagship studio for Argodesign, a global product design office. Great companies entrust their product strategy and user experience design to argo.

When designing architectural components the aesthetics cannot be polarizing, they must be something that will compliment a multitude of interiors. At the same time, it's great to think of a design language that can be translated into complimentary products to be specified for projects. Many cats are...sprayers meaning they require high walled boxes without seams and liners that might leak. Many cats refuse to use an enclosed litter box because they can't sit without bumping their heads, or they don't allow light in, or they contain the smell inside too well. Most enclosed litter boxes are also too small inside and larger cats can't turn around upon entry, some entries are too high for older and younger cats, some entrances are too small for larger cats...and the list goes on. There aren’t any enclosed litter boxes available that can be proudly left out in a small space while also being inclusive to cats of all sizes, ages and behaviors.

Our design-build service includes meeting with the owner and architect to determine the scope and complexity of work for the design and building process. From healthcare space to education facilities, our latest projects have turned heads and made waves across the Southeast. Working closely with our clients team, we developed a family of TV stands and accessories with a mid-century feel. The project was a huge success not only in media attention, but also in helping shape PepsiCo's new internal culture while staying relevant to our consumer. We showed how a small investment combined with strategic design could bring the brand more attention than advertising. I managed the Industrial Design component sketching and developing the primary and secondary packaging for the US launch and also bottle/tumblers with integrated straws for some of our South American markets.

Weeday pipe

Married with the functional aspects of the bin, the goal was to create aesthetics that were not polarizing but complimentary to sit alongside NYC’s architectural landmarks. A collection of serveware utilizing acacia and brass elements inspired by a circle. The Staze jar has a ribbed detail inspired by mushrooms gills that add grip and a premium feel while creating a continuous transition from the jar to the cap, so it does not get caught on anything when stored. The 45ml gel squeeze version is produced in an ocean bound plastic bottle and closure/clip to attach to a belt loop or bag. There are two styles available, one for liquid mist sanitizer and the other for squeezable gel sanitizer.

Alta approached us to reimagine their Bliss line of home window automation controls. The home is a sacred place, and we strived to create something friendly with clean geometry while being effortless to use. This is no documentary, it’s a major studio motion picture, and a heck of a good one at that. Mendez is the CIA’s top man in exfiltration, an expert at the stealth removal of people from hostile territory, and because the time has come to get those six out of Iran his expertise is sorely needed. Convincingly scripted by debuting screenwriter Chris Terrio from the real-life exploits of retired agent Tony Mendez (played by Affleck), “Argo” is most impressive in the number of moods its director has casually mastered.

We added a video wall behind and above the desk for dynamic content to catch visitors eyes and it is flanked by 2 lit storage areas to showcase products. Developing a project for a global market involves many considerations, from our consumers and food service needs to production and filling. The “Zeppelin” lamp has a small footprint making it ideal for compact spaces while offering a warmth that spreads throughout the space. To keep the smell in, there is a carbon filter in the cap which allows air to pass through while creating an odor protective barrier.

Argo has pretty much doubled that time because of his “drive and love to go to work,” according to Schrader. He also was deployed for 105 building searches and used in more than 150 tracks, including one when he helped another agency locate a missing child, according to the proclamation. Argo was joined by his handler, CPD K9 Officer Branch Schrader, Police Chief Steve Norman, CPD officers and city officials on the steps of city hall to wish the 13 year-old German Shepard/Belgian Malinois mix well and thank him for his service.

In the research phase I identified multiple areas where we could improve the litter box experience for cats and people. We love design – for the technology, for the simple joy of craft, and ultimately for the experiences we create. Many manufacturers are jumping on the scooter's popularity, with varying degrees of design sophistication. The Austin, Texas studio has commissioned its Amsterdam arm to create a novel shared-scheme scooter concept focused on the fusion of safety and community. The result is Step, built on a respect for shared space and demonstrating a sensibility for ease-of-use and storage.

Winner of Mockett's annual design competition, the Dock-it was designed to charge your smartphone and tablet while keeping it visible and functional on the desk top. To bring them back to life, we looked at new ways to reuse them alongside 30 other design studios, the designs were then produced at the San Patrignano wood shop. An exercise in aesthetics, I worked on the Hellraiser collection based on a style of drawing I was doing at the time.

"The circular window was originally a stained glass window," the studio said. A large entry courtyard serves as an outdoor living room that connects to the main level and sits above a semi-underground lower level with training spaces, conference rooms and bike storage. "The structure is exposed, and the materials and framework perform while also operating as the finish," the studio said. "There are a range of collaborative and private spaces to accommodate different working styles and projects." I have authored several lifestyle books, including the critically acclaimed and commercially successful The Life Negroni, and I work as a content strategist and luxury brand consultant at Spinach. 14 Insanely Useful Disney Cruise Tips to Know Before You Go

how to book a disney cruise

I personally love using the website as it’s the easiest way for me to see all my options in one place. I also know that travel agents often offer incentives and promotions to book through them. These include drip coffee, juice, soda from soda machines, tap water, milk, tea and lemonade. The exceptions are alcoholic drinks, canned sodas from bars, bottled water and smoothies, which are purchased individually and charged to your folio. Don't forget that you can order Mickey's Premium Ice Cream Bars from room service even though the sweet treat is not on the menu.

Can I transfer it to my travel agent or Costco?

As a parent, my favorite part of a Disney cruise might be the included kids programs that children actually want to attend. If the kids are happy for a few hours, the parents can actually relax, too. All of Disney Cruise Line's ships have some kind of waterslide on board. You can work off some of those treats and drinks at the onboard fitness center on each ship.

What To Do Once You’re Booked

how to book a disney cruise

There’s no specific time, you just show up and choose from a limited menu that includes some of the same foods served in the main dining rooms (but without all the hoopla). Of late they haven’t been doing it, but all indications are that this is a temporary post-pandemic measure because of logistics issues, so it could restart any time. If you’d prefer a quieter dinner at your own dining time, ask if it’s an option on your cruise. Booking a Disney cruise can be intimidating if you’re not sure where to get the best deal.

Your sailing has a Facebook group and it's worth joining

The Cookie's and Cookie's Too lunch shacks on the island are both included, so load up on hot dogs, barbecue, hamburgers, fries and all the fixings. At these restaurants, you can order whatever you want on the menu at no extra charge, with a few exceptions (for example, alcohol and specialty drinks cost extra). You must choose between an early and a late dinner time, with your showtime opposite your dining time. Each night, your tablemates and servers will move from one restaurant to the next as a team.

What’s Included in the Cost

There is a Disney Cruise Navigator app that you can use on most iPhones and Android phones without needing to pay for internet access. The Navigator app includes activity schedules and menus, and has a kind of text message feature that seems to work much better these days. We found that notifications were showing up quickly when people messaged using the app (our experience was with iPhone, we don’t know how well Android works). Most of your daily expenses, including your food and non-alcoholic beverages, are included when sailing on a Disney cruise. However, if you’d like specialty drinks or alcohol, you’ll need to pay extra. Gratuities are not included, and Disney Cruise Line's recommended tip is a minimum of $14.50 per guest, per night.

It currently sails just five ships, compared to 27 at its family-friendly competitor Royal Caribbean. Disney's attention to detail transfers to its voyages on the sea. But unlike at the Disney theme parks, which can be a bit complicated to navigate, long lines and complex strategies are rarely a part of the Disney cruise experience. Get a sugar rush at Vanellope's Sweets & Treats, which is themed after the movie "Wreck-It Ralph." The extra-cost snack shop has everything from gelato in crispy waffle cones to baked goodies and candy. During the tea party, kids can choose from a selection of teas and pair their drinks with one sweet and one savory course. A Royal hostess and pastry chef tell stories, dance and sing with the group before welcoming in a few Disney princesses.

A seven-night cruise in the Caribbean will likely start around $5,000 for a family of four. Expect Alaska and Europe cruises to start at $5,000 to $6,000 for inside cabins for a week, and prices go up for longer sailings and upgraded cabins. Ships also provide 24-hour, self-service guest laundry facilities equipped with washers and dryers, along with detergent and complimentary ironing equipment. These services can get busy during sea days on longer cruises, so plan accordingly. Room service, the buffet and the on-deck food counter dining options don't cost extra and are available to you in addition to or instead of your rotational dining. Passengers on their first Disney cruise don't get to make those reservations until 75 days out if they aren't in the concierge level.

Disney Cruise Advice: Tips & Tricks Onboard the Ship

And with exceptional service and attention to detail, you can rest assured that your every need will be taken care of. While most food and snacks on Disney Cruise Line are included, some options are not, including Frozone Treats. This small snack stand whips up poolside smoothies for an extra cost that can be charged to your onboard bill. On four-night or longer sailings, Remy also offers brunch and a dessert event, which are $80 and $65, respectively. Brunch at Remy is prix fixe with dishes like lobster cannelloni and sea bass, plus a glass of Champagne and a dessert.

If you go hungry on a cruise ship, you have only yourself to blame! There’s plenty of food available 24/7, most of which is already included in the cost of your cruise. You’ll want to study the ship’s deck plans (or get help from a travel agent) to decide what’s best for you.

You can always add an additional gratuity for any of your services or servers. Parents can stay with kids and play during open hours on the first day and select times on other dates, but most of the time, the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab are kids-only. Your kids will check in and out by scanning a special MagicBand that also tracks where they are within the kids clubs. Little cruisers can be transformed into a princess or pirate at sea at the onboard Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, which does themed kid makeovers and sells costumes as part of the package. You'll need an appointment; expect to pay $100 to $200 for most packages. Just like on board, some of the food on Castaway is included, while alcohol and specialty drinks are not.

We answer these questions in our guide to cruise travel insurance. If you’ve ever cruised before, you know that there’s always an incentive to put a deposit down on your next cruise before you disembark. It can’t hurt to do this because if you end up taking the cruise, you get a discount.

You can also book Disney cruises with Marriott Bonvoy points or United miles at a rate that’s less than desirable. The Disney Premier card could be good for those who would rather save money for Disney trips than other types of travel, or it could make sense for those who want special financing arrangements. However, there are lots of alternatives that earn flexible points or cash-back that may offer a better return on everyday purchases. Frequent travelers with excellent credit may benefit from this credit card that offers a lot of bells and whistles. There are additional ways to book Disney cruises with points and miles, although these don’t offer tremendous value.

The classic kids menu options of macaroni and cheese and chicken strips are readily available as well. Be sure to find the towering piles of crab legs and poached shrimp that grace the buffet line as well. After your meal, a cheese trolley comes around to serve a selection of cheeses from France along with accompaniments. The prix-fixe menu at Remy is $135, and there's also an a la carte menu.

Some reservations for Palo, Palo Steakhouse, Remy and Enchante might be available to book once you're on board, but it's not guaranteed. If you're looking for a hot slice of pizza, look no further than Pinocchio's Pizzeria. The menu is small, with only a few pie choices, including cheese, pepperoni and vegetarian. That said, the pizza is always hot and fresh, making this a great poolside snack while watching a movie on the funnel TV. Near Disney Wish's main pool is Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods. This outdoor open-air concept is made up of five smaller quick-service windows dishing out barbecue, pizza, burgers, tacos and ice cream.

If you need to modify or cancel, do so before cancellation penalties begin. Some last-minute bookings must be paid in full right away and have strict cancellation rules. “Guessing” now and modifying later can be complicated and costly. First, you’ll need to know exactly which cruise you want to take.

Easy Ways to Save on Your Disney Cruise

These tropical oases are used as exclusive ports-of-call for Disney cruise ship guests on most sailings out of Florida. Another reason to consider going through a travel agent is to get onboard credit. Some travel agents will offer onboard credit based on the amount you spend on your Disney cruise. This is credit you can use toward drinks, spa treatments, excursions or anything else you can charge to your room.

When the wave of pandemic-related cruise cancellations hit in 2020, I was so grateful to have a travel agent — instead of me — spending time dealing with the cruise line. For a family of four, the cheapest Disney cruise currently available (not counting the two-night cruises in Australia and New Zealand) is about $2,500. An ocean view will add about $90 and a verandah will add about $500.

Then, you wait for the announcement that you’re clear to leave the ship, and off you go. Booking and boarding a cruise is a bit more complex than booking and checking into a hotel. Because you pick your exact stateroom on a cruise, you’ll want to make sure you’re thinking of everything before choosing. Disney is building three more cruise ships, which will eventually bring the total fleet size to eight.

Seek out spa discounts

But planning such an extraordinary — and expensive — vacation can be daunting, and every question seems to turn into a dozen more. Ahead of your cruise, you’ll be able to do Online Check-In to complete and print important documents. By all means do so — it’s no fun doing paperwork at the terminal!

Booking a Disney cruise through Costco Travel is great for Costco members. That’s because cruise bookings through Costco often come with a digital Costco Shop card as a bonus. For example, we found a 7-night Caribbean cruise on Disney Treasure (set to debut in December 2024) for 3 people in an oceanview stateroom with a verandah that cost $7,411.94 and came with a $590 Shop card. Many of the credit card offers that appear on this site are from credit card companies from which we receive financial compensation. This compensation may impact how and where products appear on this site (including, for example, the order in which they appear). However, the credit card information that we publish has been written and evaluated by experts who know these products inside out.

In the morning, continental breakfast offerings can be delivered to your room from 7 to 10 a.m. To get breakfast, you will need to fill out one of the request cards in your room and leave it hanging on the door the night before your meal. Alternatively, you can call room service from your cabin phone to order in the morning. While the four older Disney Cruise Line ships have Palo, Disney Wish has a new variation of the popular adults-only restaurant called Palo Steakhouse. The ocean-facing restaurant serves dinner nightly and brunch on most sea days and the occasional port day. Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf make their way around the restaurant to meet guests and perform songs from "Frozen" on stage.

how to book a disney cruise

The cruise must commence within 24 months after the Placeholder Reservation was booked, or the reservation will automatically cancel. Expedia has the same base prices as everyone else, but occasionally they will have their own additional offer, like onboard credit or extra Expedia rewards points. In our experience, Costco reps are very nice, but don’t know much about Disney Cruise Line. They almost certainly have never been on a Disney cruise, and may have never been on a cruise of any kind. If you choose to go this route, be prepared to spend time and energy doing your own research about what your package includes and how everything works. Heaven help you if you need to book something complicated like connecting rooms or want to know the pros and cons of different stateroom options.

All breakfast menus on the final morning are the same across the ship's rotational dining options. Disney Visa cardholders who use their card as their payment method onboard automatically get several discounts on purchases on the ship and on Castaway Cay. In order for this to happen, you have to register your Disney Visa card when you check in at the port. You do not need to charge the cruise fare on your Disney Visa to get the discounts. If you ultimately decide not to take a cruise, Disney will refund 100% of your deposit or placeholder payment.

It’s no surprise that a 4-night cruise will cost more than a 3-night cruise. Cost is obviously a major consideration for people considering a Disney Cruise. No need to carry your wallet everywhere — all your purchases onboard and at Castaway Cay (except for postage stamps) are conveniently charged right back to your room account. Disney holds special themed nights on many of its cruises, going far beyond usual cruise line mainstays such as Formal Night. It’s no surprise that Disney ships host Disney characters throughout the journey. It starts with a sail-away party and continues with traditional character meet-and-greets each day.

The “drip” coffee they serve throughout the ship is made in a machine that looks vaguely like a coffee urn, but actually produces instant coffee on demand by mixing liquid concentrate and hot water. When it’s made in a properly-calibrated machine it tastes like OK instant coffee (not as good as Starbucks Via, but better than Folger’s Crystals). If the machine is out of calibration, it can be really weak or very strong. If they find disallowed items, the items will be confiscated and given back at the end of the cruise.

Since there’s probably many guests who are being picked up, they will try to get as many people as possible onto the transfer. When being picked up by Disney Cruise Line Transportation, you’ll have access to Disney entertainment onboard your bus. If you remember Disney’s Magical Express Service, you’ll receive similar entertainment to that. From Disney cartoons to information about the port, it’s a great way to keep the magic flowing right into your Disney Cruise.

Experience the Best San Francisco Bay Cruises

If you want a full write up of what to expect on this tour, you can also visit this page. In this case, I reviewed my time with the Red and White Fleet. You head west past several SF sights including Fort Mason, the Marina District and the Palace of Fine Arts. Not to mention the most famous bridge in the world, and an equally infamous island prison. If you’re a traveler from overseas, note that you’ll need to leave a tip (typically 15-20%) at restaurants and bars.

Local Currency & Tipping Customs

My final entry for my list of the best San Francisco bay tours is all of the special event cruises. There are several throughout the year for holidays, but three dates offer an extra special experience. Even though there are fewer people around at this time, I find this one of my favorite times to head out whale watching.

Top Sights & Attractions for Cruises to San Francisco

The lure of California continues to persist centuries after settlers ventured “out West” to widen America’s boundaries. No place better manifests the promise of California than San Francisco. San Francisco cruises offer travelers on a Pacific Coast cruise a chance to experience the Bay Area for themselves.

The Dinner Dance Cruise is the first on my list from Hornblower. This company features San Francisco boat tours that I would consider are more for special occasions. This floating wine bar is a blast and allows you to sip on your local wine as you soak in the views from around the SF Bay.

San Francisco's Top Tours

A trip to San Francisco wouldn’t be complete without an afternoon in Chinatown, a 24-block stretch of shops, restaurants, markets, and historic sites. Take a walking tour or strike out on your own to sip traditional Chinese tea or order dim sum as you explore the oldest Chinatown in the United States. It only runs once a night and the time changes by season to give you the best chance to catch the sunset. The great thing is all of the boat companies work together (you will hear them on the radio) to ensure passengers on all of the boats get the chance to see whales during the cruise. I also wanted to add this one because these are some of my favorite San Francisco boat tours.

Recommended Experiences in San Francisco

San Francisco cruises are incredibly popular, with over 300,000 passengers passing through this port of call every year. You can find luggage storage at Pier 39 within the California Welcome Center, just 0.4 miles away from Cruise Pier 27. Bigger than New York’s Central Park, Golden Gate Park is over 1,000 acres of natural beauty enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. On your excursion to Golden Gate Park, visit the Japanese Tea Garden or the San Francisco Botanical Garden. Check out the de Young Museum for an afternoon of fine arts.

Special Event Cruises

Discover the most iconic sights of San Francisco on a hop-on, hop-off tour. Sit back and relax in the comfort of one of our open-top buses, as an entertaining audio guide tells you about the city’s unique history. South of Pier 39 is the Westfield Mall on Market Street which houses over 170 shops, restaurants, and major department stores for you to find whatever you might need. Head north to explore Chinatown before making your way back to the cruise port. Cruises to San Francisco have the unique benefit of a well-kept cruise port. You can reach the James R. Herman cruise terminal via public transportation or simply walking from Pier 27.

Wine Tasting on the Bay

You can catch one of these San Francisco bay tours several times a day. The boat cruise leaves from Fisherman's Wharf and starts out along the northern waterfront. In 1892, seventeen-year-old Thomas Crowley launched the first of many companies which would one day be a fixture of the San Francisco Bay. Using $80 he had saved, he purchased a used Whitehall rowboat, and started a business supplying the ships at anchor in the Bay. Within Golden Gate Park is Stow Lake, a manmade lake perfect for renting a rowboat or paddle boat to from one side to the other.

The waters right outside the bay are very active all year long with migrating whales, dolphins, dozens of birds and other sea animals. However, you will cruise through the bay to get to and from the ocean. One of the things to keep in mind with the Hornblower cruises is that they pick up at Pier 3, which is closer to the Ferry Building and NOT near Fisherman's Wharf.

If the timing of this cruise works for you, I would select this one over the standard 60-minute bay cruise as it gives you some great insight into Alcatraz. This one is very popular, but it only runs a couple of times a day. The Twilight or Sunset Cruise is offered by the Red and White Fleet. You will also cruise past Treasure Island and the Ferry Building. So, it offers a little more fun on the water for just a few more bucks per ticket. They are also usually flexible with timing too on which San Francisco boat tour you can board unless it's a really busy day.

The other thing to note about these bay cruises is they do require that you dress up a little bit. No jeans are allowed, and they require business casual dress. You can also head out past the Golden Gate Bridge to get in some whale watching while you are here or take a special cruise to watch the fireworks on Fourth of July or New Year's Eve. Our two-hour sunset cruise is the perfect way to cap off a day in San Francisco. Ever wanted to see the California sun drop slowly into the Pacific Ocean, framed by the majestic Golden Gate, from the middle of San Francisco Bay? Instantly recognizable through the California fog, walk or bike the Golden Gate Bridge, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.

You can also enjoy a drink or two on board (available for purchase at the bar). There is also a musician on board playing some light music in the background. The Twilight Cruise is offered during the winter months (roughly early November through mid-March). It's called a Twilight Cruise since the sun will already be down by the time the cruise is underway.
